Members of the Elk Grove Community are set to launch a new Non- Profit - kicking it off with a Holiday Partying for Small Businesses on December 1st.

PROMISE Network (http://PROMISENetwork.org), a network comprised of Elk Grove, CA residents with a vision to help businesses, entrepreneurs and their community. The PROMISE Network stands for People Reaching Out Mentoring, Inspiring, and Supporting Each other.

“Jeff Vail and I (Krista Guerrero) founded the non-profit, from running our own businesses, we saw an opportunity to help other entrepreneurs and small business owners and assist them in making their business goals or idea a reality. By doing this it would help grow businesses in our community, support the local economy, and create jobs.” said Krista Guerrero, Marketing Director / Founder of PROMISE Network.
The PROMISE Networks first fundraising event, the Elk Grove Business Holiday Party which will be on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Valley Hi Country Club. It is also the official launch of the PROMISE Network.

“Elk Grove has a lot of small businesses and there was an opportunity for us to create a collaborative holiday party where business owners and their employees could enjoy a corporate level party with dinner, live music, dancing, raffle prizes and a Holiday Gift Expo. This is also a great opportunity for businesses to network.” announced Krista.
Tickets are just $35 per person and include dinner, dessert, raffle rickets, and dancing. Tickets may be purchased through the PROMISE Network website.
The Gift Expo is available for sponsorship for businesses selling gift items like Mary Kay, Tupperware, Scentsy Candles, Pampered Chef, Cookie Lee Jewelry. More information can be found on the PROMISE Network website.

About the PROMISE Network

Through donations and fundraising, the organization will donate money to businesses who meet their (non-profit) criteria to help them get started or take their business to the next level. According to Krista, it’s all about paying it forward. Recipients will then be asked to donate a percent back to the charity once they are on their feet, so that the non-profit can help support another entrepreneur or business.

The PROMISE Network will hold several large annual fundraising events which will include an Elk Grove Fun Run & Wacky Walk, Soccer for the Cure, Best of Elk Grove Competition and Elk Grove Business Holiday Party.

Big Changes Coming to Elk Grove Online

We are about to shake things up in Elk Grove!  We have been working quietly behind the scenes on a major update to Elk Grove Online.  Just about every suggestion we have received over the years is being incorporated (yes, the classifieds will be categorized!).  ;)  We are doing our best to keep the site easy to use while we add a slew of new and updated features.

Here’s what we need from you!  Once the new version of the site launches, you will log in with your email address and password (instead of username and password), so it is critical that you know what email address you have on file with us and that it is current.  If you don’t know what email address we have for you, you will not be able to log in!  To check, log in to Elk Grove Online, then go to My Account.  If you have an old address with us, please take a moment to update it.

We will use this blog and updates posted on Elk Grove Online to prepare you for the changes before they happen (in late November), so follow along to be prepared for the big change!  Stay tuned for updates and more details on what to expect…

Pirates Invade Elk Grove to Raise Funds for Park Project

Elk Grove, CA – August 10, 2011 – Krista Guerrero, Director of Sales and Marketing for Elk Grove Online has announced that the Third Annual Best of Elk Grove Party will be held on Saturday, August. 20, from 6-9 p.m. at the Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove. All proceeds from the event will go to the Elk Grove Pirates Island Project.

Adventurers, scallywags and buccaneers from far and wide are invited to partake of some old fashioned pirate fun. The event features a wide range of events for children and adults, including a scavenger hunt for treasure and the Shipwreck Cove Kids Zone. A pirates auction will be held and guests can dig their hands into some fine Grub and fundraising drinks of Rum.

A highlight of the festivities will be an appearance by the Sacramento Pirates MeetUp Group, along with the Pirates Booty Sampling and Mascot. Stop by the Tortuga Trade Vendors, which are local businesses showcasing their services, and the Ink Marks the Spot Tattoo Parlor or get a live action flipbook made of your pirate adventures!

Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Elk Grove Pirates Island Project. The endeavor seeks to establish a community playground on the barren island in the lake at Elk Grove Regional Park. The old facility served the community well, but was demolished in the late 1980s as unsafe. The Pirates Island Project is being conducted through a partnership with CSD Playground Partners and the Cosumnes Legacy Foundation.

Elk Grove Online is a community website focused on the needs of Elk Grove and its residents. The site provides visitors with fun and easy ways to learn about the area and meet with others. Elk Grove Online Announces 15th Anniversary Celebration

Elk Grove, CA - July 1, 2011 – Krista Guerrero, Director of Marketing at Elk Grove Online, has announced that the community website is celebrating its 15-year anniversary with a picnic. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Elk Grove Pirates Island Park Project.

Grab your lawn chairs and blankets! The 15-year anniversary celebration takes place on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 7p.m. located at Strauss Island in Elk Grove Park. Residents are invited to partake of a BBQ with all the trimmings and enjoy the all the festivities they have planned. The Yogi Bear movie, “Life’s A Pic-A-Nic,” will be presented at dusk.

The celebration is truly a community event. It’s being sponsored by CSD Playground Partners, Elk Grove Grocery Outlet, Sylvan Learning Center, Pride of Laguna Creek Lions Club, and Full Throttle Music. Event sponsorships are available to local business owners.

Sylvan Learning Center Kid Zone will host a bounce house, giant Twister game, snow cones and face painting for youngsters of all ages. The mobile age meets good old-fashioned fun with a Mobile SCVNGR Hunt. Participants can download the mobile app for Apple and Android mobile devices.

A raffle will also be held and those who complete the EGO Picnic Scavenger Hunt will receive 10 free raffle tickets. The event’s raffle tickets will also be available while supplies last at a cost of $10 for 10 tickets. Those in attendance can also purchase their very own Elk Grove Online (EGO) “I’m An EGO Maniac” T-shirt for $10. T-shirts will be available at the picnic.

Funds raised at the EGO picnic will be contributed to the fund to build the Pirate Island Park Project to be constructed at the Elk Grove Regional Park. The facility will be open to the public and provide a safe environment for families to relax, play and have fun.
